Drugstore: the science of the design of the pharmaceutical forms
· Author: Aulton, M.E.
· ISBN: 84-8174-728-9
The second edition of a text of world success, which first edition published in 1988 has been used like text, of way continued from this date, in many Departments of pharmaceutics of the whole world. The target of this work is to provide to the pharmacists the necessary knowledge to turn a potential drug into a medicine that could be administered to the patient of a sure and efficient way. It treats as an exhaustive way the Science of the design of the pharmaceutical forms and all the ways of presentation of the medicines. In his wide sense this work is an ôCiencia of the boticaö or of the pharmaceutical preparations, therefore it is a fundamental matter inside the university curriculum and inside the pharmacist's profession. It includes the design and medicines formulation, for what there are taught the necessary aspects of physical chemistry, his production to small scale (composed) and large-scale (pharmaceutical technology) and the elimination of microorganisms of the medicines. Although the basic sciences remain practically invariable, there are other fields like the biodrugstore, some aspects of the administration of medicines, the properties of the solid state and products of biotechnology that yes have changed, for what there was becoming indispensable a new edition of this successful text, which teachers and pupils have been claiming during the last years. This new edition is structured in five parts: 1) Scientific Beginning of the design of the pharmaceutical forms; 2) Science of the particles and technology related to the dust; 3) biopharmaceutical Beginning of the administration of medicines; 4) Design and manufacture of the pharmaceutical forms; 5) Pharmaceutical microbiology; along that there are covered completely the contents of the subjects of Galénica and Pharmaceutical technology, for what this work is the resource most recognized and spread for the study of these matters.
